HOW TO BUY & SELL ETHEREUM ON LOCALETHEREUM.

1. Create an account, all you need is an email address, alias name(name that you'll go by on the platform) and a password and you're ready to go.

*side note* An alias name is important make sure it doesn't give out your actual name, you dont want someone that you havent done any trades with spamming your email or phone number that they might have got through looking up your name online e.g social media. The people you trade with can get your details because of the payment methods like Mpesa, this is fine because they can only get it through you guys making a trade, so they are only there for the same reason as you.

2.Login to your account, you may be required to verify your account by checking your email.

After you login in, you will see a bar that willl help you in filtering or searching for the location by country and whether to buy or sell. Choose your country and the option buy or sell or even both.

-Here you'll be able to choose where to buy from according to your location.

3.Find an offer that you like based on price, popularity, fast trade(lightning bolt) or number of trades.

-Price, finding the best price means being able to buy ethereum for the least price or being able to sell it for the most. You can see the pricing on the far right of each traders name.

-Popularity, traders are mostly ranked by popularity meaning they have either been using the platform for quite some time or they offer great services so they are at the top. Focusing on this good because it helps you get the most credible traders to trade with.

-Lightning bolt, you'll find this right next to a traders name, this just means the traders are fast responders. This a good sign. But its also good to consider the rest of the factors.

-Number of trades, you'll find this under the traders name, it shows how many trades they have executed, the more the trades the better, it proves they can be trusted.

If you find that a trader meets all these standards, that's where you want to put your money.

Paying attention to the Lightning bolt, Number of trades and price are key to a successful trade.

4. Open a trade do this by clicking on the buy or sell button on the far right, next to the traders name. If you're buying key in the number of ethereum you want to buy, if selling key in the number of ethereum you're selling*note when selling you need to have that amount on your localethereum wallet, otherwise you wont be able to open a trade*

This is what appears when you press the buy button on the far right of the traders name.

Click on the open trade button as it appears in the above image and Once you do this, the price is locked in and a conversation is created between you and the seller. Now, familiarize yourself with the trade interface because you’ll need to understand what’s going on.

The trader should fund escrow and She/He should leave their payment details(MPESA NUMBER, PESALINK OR BANK DETAILS). This is where you will make the payment once escrow confirms, DO NOT! MAKE A PAYMENT IF ESCROW HASN'T CONFIRMED.

The escrow mechanism keeps you safe as a buyer.

Once the trade has been opened and you have conversed with the trader you should be able to see the section(outside the chat) that notify's you whether escrow has been funded or not. The trade is only open for 2 hours and if you don't make the payment the trader is free to cancel. When you hit Mark as paid, the seller is permanently forbidden from pulling the ETH out of escrow.

5.Make the payment to the deposit address(MPESA NUMBER OR BANK ACCOUNT) the Trader has sent you in the chat, as soon as you pay click on the MARK AS PAID.

The Trader should release escrow as soon as he receives the funds.

When the trader releases escrow the funds will be deposited to the wallet.

If you want to sell, just scroll to the sell section and choose a trader you want to sell to. If you have bought ethereum it will be easy to understand the platform. Just take care not to release the escrow before you have received the payment, but in the case you make a mistake where you might end up loosing your money like maybe releasing escrow before being paid or paying the trader before escrow is funded when buying, this where a traders reputation matters the best traders and top traders will always return your funds.

5. Transfer money to the seller.

6. Hit “Mark as paid” and wait for the seller to release.
